Since they were introduced I've been dying to see what kind of performance applications the Indian Scout engine would be subjected to. Now there's finally a full out prototype in the works for the highest level of racing anywhere (couldn't resist the pun).

Seriously, anyone who like horsepower should have been looking at the all new Scout motor. If they weren't they will be soon enough.... Harley's Street 750 motor too but that's a whole different article.
This Roland Sands built Pikes Peak Race bike has been created for Victory Motorcycles using a highly modified Indian Scout engine.

This pure race built motorcycle is set tackle the 156 turns of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, taking place June 28, 2015 and is aptly named Project 156
Project 156 features a heavily customized Indian Scout Engine developed for Victory. It features twin 67mm throttle bodies with downdraft intake funnels, which, if you look closely at the photos, extend into the area normally reserved for the gas tank. The engine also features titanium intake and exhaust valves to better allow the high engine speeds racebikes are normally subjected to.
This all american race effort is sure to be a hit... An Indian Scout motor modified by Victory in a purpose built Pikes Peak race bike designed Roland Sands to be ridden by Don Canet (Cycle World Editor).
The Indian Motorcycles Scout is powered by an 1133cc liquid-cooled 60-degree V-twin with double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. Indian claims 100 horsepower with 72 foot-pounds of torque at 5900 rpm. Watch the video for more details about the testing Victory is conducting to prepare for the race.
