Sunday, we were having coffee with an old pal who’s never been very much into cars. He had taken his son to the local hobby emporium, where they’d marveled over “those cars with the tab sticking out of the bottom so they don’t fly off the track.”

Were we gajillionaires, we would buy him this for Christmas. We’re sure his wife wouldn’t mind a replica ofVirginia International Raceway dominating the living room of their modest San Francisco apartment. But we are not gajillionaires, so we will leave this purchase up to you, our better-heeled readers. And our dear friend’s son may never know the joy of staging his own Lightning Lap re-enactment.

In conjunction with the legendary Neiman Marcus Christmas Book catalog, Slot Mods USA will throw you a party and leave a custom-built track behind. A cool $300K gets you a 1:32-scale replica of the circuit of your choice (we’d love to see them take on Snaefell Mountain) and an inaugural-race-night party including David Hobbs and Vic Elford. The finished track will measure roughly 30 feet by 12 feet, and all slot cars, foliage, spectator figures, buildings, signage, and more are included. You also get mini cameras and screens to watch the hot slot action, and the entire thing will take six months to get ready. If you want it installed for you, though, you must pay extra.

$3500 of your purchase price will go to the Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation, dedicated to supporting youth education in the arts.
